Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Absolutely ridiculous executive decision by OpenText

This move shows a complete lack of understanding in how to run a sustainable business. Leadership seems more focused on short-term optics than long-term health, and it’s becoming increasingly clear they’re out of touch with both the market and their employees.

They’re trying to keep this quiet—but maybe it’s time investors over on Stocktwits hear how poorly this company is being run. Transparency matters, and shareholders deserve to know what’s really going on behind closed doors.

Innovation through acquisition is unsustainable. At some point, there is nothing left to acquire. It's kind of like a ponzi scheme, you eventually run out of su-kers.

Then, when the layoffs aren't targeted you lose a ton of institutional knowledge and depth of expertise in these acquired products. You lose the people who maintain the customer relationships and keep those recurring maintenance costs that go up 5% every year for no good reason.

Look. This company fired the entire support staff of an acquired product in the middle of a knowledge transfer to the new support team and then required the new support team to just keep on truckin'. It's a complete sh-t show and it has been for a long time.

When the stock price dips below $20, I'm going to pop a bottle of champagne and dance in my pants. This company deserves failure.

Yes it is always like this. The stupid CEO won some money by acquisition in the last bull market then he goes all in acquisition as the main strategy aka eating everything he can find. Until the real world proves he is a clown.

Mark layed off all of the knowledge needed to tie the products together. Anybody who is still there won't have any heart left to put the work in to make the company profitable. Loyalty is a two way street and he's shown that he has no loyalty for his hard working colleagues.

They grew through acquisitions thinking everything would come together as a big unified solution. That hasn’t happened and no amount of marketing can solve that. Key is what next? In the short term cut costs, but is there a stand out product that will automate and incorporate AI. Per all the marketing I sounds like there is, but where are the customer testimonials (and growth numbers)?

Opentext should open a museum at the University of Waterloo of all the old products they have and talk about when they were state of the art and when they jumped the shark. At least that would be another source of revenue and it feels good to talk about the good old days.

They're not out of touch. Mark never knew how to run a company to begin with. The board members are all just as stupid as he is.
