PIPs

Is it common to put employees on a PIP? I haven’t heard of anyone being put on one, but I’ve only been here for less than a year, so it’s not like I’d necessarily know. My last job handed out PIPs like candy, so I’ve got a bit of PTSD when it comes to that stuff.

Its not something that's talked about. If someone is put on PIP, they won't necessarily want to talk about it. And if your manager puts you on pip, he certainly won't talk about it.

But it does happen. Usually, its a step managers will use to let you know that you need to improve your performance or you'll be kicked out. All of this can take a year, so even if you're being put on pip, its not the end of the world. You have time to look for jobs.

Standard way to document an issue and manage someone out if that issue isn’t addressed . Racist id--ts abound, this is what HR would tell any manager to do if someone isn’t performing but also not immediately fireable

Korean directors use this technique especially in east coast to get rid of people they don't like. This is very much supported by HR
