Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Got to hand it to the early posters

Spot on. Lots of solid intel. Today's internet is mostly noise and BS. Not here. Sure, we have the usual troll spam, but I've seen some quality posts over the last few weeks that in retrospect we're accurate as he-l.

Thanks for the info, and keep up the good work.

"OT is more of an acquisition company than a tech company. "

That is ALL they are. MF was referred to as the 'hospice of software' (Visual COBOL anyone?). At least MF was run like a business, not whatever OT is.

BMC is putting Helix on the block as they split the company. That’s their ITOM. Wonder if there’s a deal in the works for that to consolidate the market

OT is more of an acquisition company than a tech company.

I predict an announcement April 30th of the sale of former HPE/MicroFocus security products(ArcSight, Fortify, SPI Dynamics, and Voltage) as well as certain ITOM products like DCA.

I cosign this. I give a personal thank you to all the posters because I was able to be prepared for it on my end when it happened.

It’s a shame, many good, loyal, dedicated employees work at OpenText, but with all the acquisitions they simply have old products that they don’t invest in, rather, they just combine them in Marketing pieces and make grandiose claims with funny looking cartoon characters and aviators. Lots of marketing solutions looking for a problem. OpenText’s first product was developed technology to index the Oxford English Dictionary, But since then all the acquired innovations have eroded not grown, which is now coming to light since they are no longer acquiring companies. Once they get a new CEO who will invest in R&D, then there will really be growth and OpenText will have a shot at becoming a serious Silicon Valley contender. But until then, it all about cost cutting and becoming the “Dollar General” of the software sector where technology come to die. Hope thing turn around soon for all the good people at OpenText.
