Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

They send me a meeting invite says connection Point

I don’t know if I’m getting laid off but I did see a Meeting invite tomorrow with someone I don’t know. Is this pattern for laid off ? Or how they are announcing layoffs ?

I received 2 weeks of severance for my 2 years of service and I'm in the US, based out California.

What was the severance for 2 years of service? Was this in the US or another region?

Here's the MO, the manager/director gives you a meeting invite with some bogus subject trying to lull you. That should be your warning sign there. Just to prepare yourself, when you join the teams meeting, before you hit the "join" button the second time to actually join, take a look at how many attendees. If you see two, you already know what's going on. It's real fast because they have a ton of people to dismiss. They give you all the coverage info, POCs for questions and severance. I was only there for 2 years so I didn't get a real great severance package. But that's all, just go with the flow when it happens...it's not worth even losing your dignity trying to argue with them, the decision is already made. That's my view, just get back in the job market and see if I can find something.

All role types, departments, various meeting types to lure you in, HR called in once you join. Not a warm or pleasant process. I feel for myself and my colleagues. This is ruthless, unethical the rational and doesn't make sense. But at the end of the day, it is not normal and a great place to work!

What does the previous post with “waiting period of two weeks for confirmation” mean? Are they letting workers go or expecting them to keep working for two weeks?

It starts with a meeting with your manager and HR. Then BS about being selected for layoff and waiting period of 2 weeks for final confirmation.
Remember you can get another job, it's not the end of the world. Just end of Mark's BS World.

The harsh reality is that I’ve seen many employees from India and the Philippines being laid off. It’s understandable when high-paid managers are let go for cost-cutting, but why on earth are they laying off lower-cost talent in Asia? It doesn’t make sense.
