Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

So not true - this would be simple

This:

Palantir is the only vendor that can deliver on that timeline, the letter argued. It is expected to merge together various data sources

https://www.theregister.com/2025/04/21/ice_enlists_palantir_to_develop/

is so not true. Access to data from different sources is one of our strengths. Any fresh out of college wunderkind versed in Viya, not working for X*, could create a rapid prototype in no time.

It’s all about connections, man. All about connections.

Palantir might have won anyway, in competitive bidding, because of its long experience with ICE. But the lack of competitive bidding makes this look like a sweetheart deal.

I have no idea either why @cs+1jsdk2hey is getting downvoted. They wrote the truth.

No idea why you're getting downvoted. I always liked working for SAS because I felt that I was building better tools for discovery in dr-g trials and academic research, not enabling the US government to better surveil its own citizens. Apparently some people think this is communist China.

Palantir and SAS are competitors in the areas of data analytics, data integration and machine learning space.

Palantir is founded by Peter Theil (with others) who is a buddy of Elon and an old boss and a huge supporter of JD and the President.

SAS has no inside connections so SAS would not be selected no matter how good SAS is.
Besides, does anyone really want SAS to be involved in such a project?
