Toxic team enabled by a toxic manager

How do you even deal with a combo like that? I can barely do my job. The manager thrives on drama and jumps in just to stir sh-t up even more. A few of us are carrying most of the workload, while everyone else is busy with backstabbing, gossip, and clique-forming. It’s not even about competition. It’s just pure toxicity for the sake of it.

@tk the AVP in my group has a speech impediment and McDonald supervisor-level management skills. All he cares about is if people didn't show up to work.

MetLife and the Theater of Titles!

One of my favorite bits of corporate comedy at MetLife? The AVP title.

Assistant Vice President. Because nothing screams leadership like being the “assistant” to someone who isn’t even a president.

It’s gloriously middle-managey. You’re not quite a VP, but you get to play one in meetings. A title inflated just enough to sound important—but functionally meaningless. Like putting “co-pilot” on your Uber driver’s name tag.

At some point, you’ve got to wonder: are they managing work, or just playing dress-up with titles?

My DEI AVP is a total mo--n, but ya know, Met needs that DEI quota, at any cost to the daily mental distress caused to the team, stakeholders and clients. It's how we show up for the New Frontier 'round here.

Sadly toxicity and bullying is allowed by the law and makes misogynistic managers feel better to beat on employees and 'win' the fights. They tend to find similar clicks to hang out in and have contests to talk about who has beaten their employees more.
