Is there really an upcoming RTO? I have spoken with those in leadership who are not tracking this. Im not sure how its feesable with the offices and locations we shut down. Can anyone say with a doubt they know this is coming?
If youre work at home permanent how will this impact you since its a breech of contract?

They need to move the offshore crew into the office! I’m tired of hearing goats and roosters in in the background. I have heard it and the providers are sick of it.
Contract. LMAO.
The employment arrangement is at will, you didn’t sign a contract , you signed an agreement that states it’s at will. Therefore it isn’t a breech of contract. Are you really gonna sue?
@vs+1 I was hired fully remote, was told it was a permanent work from home position, then was just told in the past three years I would never have to go into an office. So, five different people representing this company lied to me over the years??? I see this as no different than an employee hiring into a position agreeing to go into an office three days, and then once hired, refuses to go into an office at all. That makes the employee in breach of contract. So, why is EH not in breach of contract now????
I understand why many are concerned about a possible RTO especially those who were WAH prior to COVID, but they never said WAH was permanent. Yes, they have closed some locations, but not all of them and they only closed a few floors in others. There are many companies requiring employees to return to the office. It works well/better for some, but many are not as productive at home. Maybe they'll allow those who have good work ethic and production to remain working from home. I think most associates are more stressed about a possible RIF. Associate mental health and stress levels don't really concern the higher ups. Hang in there everyone.
There is no such thing as "breech of contract" - they can do whatever they want - try and sue them - good luck - there are plenty of direct directors who could go into the office but are getting away with not going - because the radar is on the staff and managers. Directors that go in - have typically staff living in the area so they "can go in and collaborate with them" in other words do nothing but walk around- chat - snack -
Don’t forget, GB was forcing everyone back to the office in phases before the pandemic. People were termed under the “report to the office or resign” as many had moved away from offices because they were WAH. She was restacking offices to fit people in like sardines. The pandemic just delayed the process. She hates WAH and said as much in 2019 quoting “comraderie and networking”. She’ll squeeze as many in as she can when the climate is right for her to do so.
My department was RIFd on a Tuesday, not a Thursday.
RIFs are done every other Thursday. Occasionally, they will do a RIF of a person or two on a day other than that, but RIFs are essentially constant. You won't hear about them most of the time unless your department was part of the reduction.
Does anyone know when the next RIF will be?
Is there a new RTO mandate coming out? Has it changed? Does the new mandate impact Directors and above only - or individual contributors as well?
@ab+1 Don't kid yourself. There are literally thousands of employees still working from home 100% of the time. Some known, some in secret. Managers are protecting favorites by lying about 'conditions' to upper management to get the RTO exception.
I have no answer but I work in a call center role and I think it isn’t feasible to move the call center workers into the office full time. They permanently shut down one of our office locations during COVID so everyone would somehow have to cram into Bryn Mawr.
If this RTO is true and you are “virtual” I would be prepared for a change in status during the re-org or be prepared to be RIFd. It isn’t breech of contract if they demand a RTO. A lot of us were WFH originally and then got caught up in the RTO 1-2 days a week. It was presented when they changed us to hybrid that “it would only be maybe once a month to have face to face meetings.” Then they hit us with the RTO 18 months later. Employment is “at will” in most states. The law is not going to protect us. You will have to abide by the RTO or get other employment. It’s really gone down hill here. Not sure what the future holds but it isn’t looking good.
Yep , expensive office reconfiguration at the expense of employee jobs where no collaboration will happen because so many people are on teams where people are scattered all over the country. It’s just so d-mb.
I thought a lot of call center roles would remain remote? Not sure how smart it is to lose, rehire and train employees that can RTO. Plus revamping the work spaces again for dozens of call center employees. But maybe that is where RFI will come in.
Nope, theres a good handful of folks who are work at home permanent and have exceptions for being moved to hybrid..
I guess im curious what this looks like for them as im sure there some legality issues behind it.
I was under the impression that hardly anyone was permanently virtual, everybody who previously considered virtual was changed to hybrid. I suspect it’s coming to increase the time in office, every other organization is doing it too. The current hybrid model of one day is a joke, and there is no collaboration or culture happening.
