It’s really quite simple. Until there is a change in the exec with a different mindset this company will continue to fail. It may have been a technology led company in the past but now is the time for it to be a finance led one. Every decision to spend money should be made on the basis of a financial return. No more spending money on whimsical technologies just because it’s new and exciting.
Stop promoting engineers into managerial positions where they do not have the skills to run and motivate teams of people and see what a set of grown up experienced managers can do.

Do you work for the same Viasat I do? Finance do perform financial analysis, engineering might design products (good or bad), but Operations do NOT build the products, and leadership NEVER leads. Discuss?
ViaSat is a good company that has withstood many setbacks, many changes, and integrated many acquisitions.
If somebody thinks they can do another job, that they have not done previously, they probably do not understand the job sufficiently to do it well.
ViaSat will get through this period by everyone doing the job they are good at. Finance should perform financial analysis, engineering should design products, operations should build the products, and leadership will lead.
Ya!, and the navigator should land the plane, and the chief of the engine room should bring the ship into dock. Finance is an important part of a business, but they are not leaders, and especially not the current team. They don't know the customers (nor have their respect) and they could not build a product that anyone would buy. AND!, only someone from Finance would be stupid enough to post something like this, and you definitely do not want someone that stupid at the helm.
