Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Anyone hear anything related?

First, I have a friend that works in UM Government Programs and they were recently told of a reorg that will be effective on 07/01/2025. My friend says he will be moved under Medicaid which is not what he currently reviews. They didn’t offer many details, but I’m wondering if anyone else received info. about changes that are effective 07/01.

Second, I heard they are considering Cigna business that’s not HCSC core states ( TX,OK,NM,IL,MT) to be moved to one of the existing subsidiaries, sold off, or moved under a newly created subsidiary. HCSC operations seems to loosely be split into dept. that handle things for all core states or dept. that handle a specified single, core state only. Is anyone hearing these same things?

That person that thinks no one is planning as far ahead as 07/01, is wrong. There is movement being planned, and already being communicated. It’s shifting of work and lower level mgmt., and not a big realignment of leadership.

You realize that article about the HCSC reserves was from 2014 right?

HCSC Reserves have grown to $28-$30 BBBillion
They have the money to pay cash if they wanted to.

This company is extremely fiscally conservative and has some really smart people.

HCSC “had” to borrow money for the acquisition? Big changes might be on the way, but they won’t be made due to a lack of surplus.

I didn’t know that HCSC had to borrow money to acquire the Cigna business. When considering the lack of open job recs and they lost 150 mil last year in Govt business, seems possible some big changes are on the way

If you think anyone at this company is planning as far ahead as 7/1/25, I have a bridge to sell you.

They already have a brand, it just hasn’t been announced yet.

They need a new brand to sell as for the non-BCBS states once they’re no longer servicing it under the Cigna name. “Health Care Service Corporation” is hardly appealing as a customer-facing brand.

Selling off none core states can’t be the answer. Who is the leader of Medicaid for HCSC? These rumors are confusing at best. Did the dog catch the car?

Ugh. Another Cigna person here. I haven’t heard anything like that, but I just commented on the other post how HCSC seems to have different teams doing the same work but just focused on certain regions. I agree that move wouldn’t make sense…

Incoming Cigna person, so not familiar with HCSC structure, but selling off the business that is not core states doesn't make sense. That's why you bought us, to expand
