I am being moved suddenly with only a week notice.
I’m being moved to a team where all the employees are two pay grades higher. So far I haven’t heard anything about a title change or increase. What should I do? I feel like they are just moving me over and I’ll be doing the same level work for two pay grades less.

This happened to me in 2007 - my manager moved me to another role entirely (which I am qualified, thankfully) and within a month my whole (former) team was laid-off including the manager. It happens not just today.
I think its more likely that the team you are leaving is at risk of RIF
LOL, you’re not getting a raise. They are getting ready to cut excessive salaries. You’ll figure out how to absorb their work.
I would be more concerned you are the newest to the team and if they have to do layoffs you would be first out. Give it a bit of time and rock it out of the park. Be curious. Be fast. Document accomplishments. Try to learn new things and make new connections.
You are replacing someone on that team. They have to cut cost. Congrats on kind of promotion.
just to the job you are supposed to do. Read Indeed. Polish the resume. Always be looking even if you think your job is safe. No job is safe from the CEO to the janitor.
Usually they are making a move to save you from a Rif, however since you aren't matched well with the team you should start looking for another job. If a Rif hits that team, you will be the obvious one to let go.
They must see some value in you if they aren’t riffing you. Take this as a gift.
What can you do? Maybe they have work appropriate for your level and that is what you’ll be doing. I think it’s too early for you to get worked up over it. Just refrain from complaining because that will put you on a riff list for sure. Was your manager or team recently riffed? This company restructures all the time. At least you have a job for now.
I think your Manager might be saving you from what is to come.
