FINALLY! A posting that makes sense!
“ AI was crammed down our throats at an all staff yesterday. Two years ago it was absolutely banned from discussion.”
Those AI demos were like toy projects and were far from production ready. But the amount of praise and self-congratulatory tone would have made you think otherwise.
@dw+1js0j0gfx is right. Software Engineering Director titles are given out like candy … I know a few who never wrote a line of code or worked in any technical capacity holding this title. Laughable

They’ve tried outsourcing in the past—and failed miserably, just for the record. I personally rescued two projects from total disaster, but senior management refuses to learn. Most SVPs and EVPs are completely technology-illiterate. They have zero understanding of how software development actually works.
To them, it’s basically a warehouse job: the cheaper the labor and the more bodies you throw at it, the faster it’ll get done. Brilliant logic, right?
They even managed to sell cloud technologies to the business like they were promising a magic carpet ride to modernization. No roadmap, no understanding, just buzzwords and blind optimism.
I'd still like to keep my job and would like USB to succeed. Granted, May not be the best place to work right now, but still better than nothing, especially with the dismal job market.
Anyone else getting tired of this dump?

Tech is done at the bank. Everything is moving to India.
Its not even that… its about AI, removing custom projects , giving generalized watered down offerings and most of all… hiring cheap India labor.
