Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Survey comments

I just wanted to take a moment to enthusiastically applaud leadership during this exciting time of “organizational transformation.” It’s not every day that you get to witness the rare combination of total ambiguity, dwindling transparency, and motivational slogans wrapped in corporate buzzwords like “competitiveness” and “opportunity.”

The communication strategy has been particularly impressive. The consistent use of phrases like “we don’t know yet,” “still being finalized,” and my personal favorite, “you’ll have the chance to apply for a role!” really helps build confidence and stability. Nothing screams employee engagement like hearing that your job might exist in the future — if you’re lucky enough to compete for it.

It’s also thrilling to watch entire departments quietly vanish while meetings are filled with vague optimism and carefully curated talking points. The suspense is invigorating — like corporate Survivor, but with fewer torches and more existential dread.

All in all, I can say that leadership is doing a truly spectacular job keeping us informed, reassured, and oh-so-pumped to maybe, possibly, potentially earn back our current positions.

Looking forward to competing with my colleagues for the privilege of staying employed. What a time to be alive.

Warm regards,
[A remarkably “engaged” employee]

And think those who survive these layoffs will get to do it all again in 2-3 years.

Well done OP, one of the few articulate and clever posts on this board. And I couldn’t agree more.

@f1, More like most serious folks around here don't have the time or energy to waste on self-aggrandizing posts when they are concerned with feeding their family. Just a thought.

Based on the reaction voted I'd say there's a lot of kool-aid drinkers here.

They followed this playbook with CBRES last time. Regardless of what you think of CBRES, they gave everyone hope, then outsourced everything. Open and honest communication is critical to employee satisfaction. Avoiding difficult subjects and blowing smoke does not generate happy employees or a healthy company.

Very sad what has happened to this once great company.
