Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

The hard truth about MetLife

Go above and beyond, and you’ll just get handed everyone else’s unfinished work. Managers love to preach “teamwork” when it really means “carry the slackers.” Meanwhile, the only real path up is mastering corporate politics, actual results barely matter. Don’t fall for it. Do your job, sign out, and save your energy for something that actually values it.

Agree! Worked hard at Met for 10+ years among doing the other things that count in the corporate world. Got laid off about a month ago from MetLife. I don’t even know if you have to do your job to stay employed there. I honestly think it doesn’t matter. Just open that laptop do a little bit of work. Push things around. Send a few emails, and you are golden. Do not try too hard to stand out. Do not try too hard. Hard work is not welcome there. Not and smile at your AVP. Don’t question what they want to do. Don’t you dare have more contacts than that person or more knowledge or be a resource that people go to.

I watched over the past 10 years at Met, a once very successful, thriving LOB slowly erode due to its poor upper leadership, bad hires at the AVP level and ignoring the top talent at the bottom of its trenches. This demise was repeatedly outlined in every single employee survey that was repeatedly ignored by upper management. Now said LOB can reap what they sow. "told ya so!" 😂

Met loves their charity case hires. They arrive cheap and are not promotable. Ambitious people are the complete opposite and Met no like that.

Can confirm. The slackers are coddled, protected and their shortcomings are reflected back on you as being 'unreasonable', 'rude', 'difficult'. Presenting evidence of someone who is barely present and won't answer emails, IM's or texts means having to get a sign off from ER just to do something.
Any other place where someone failed to do their job would mean being fired. Not here. ML loves slackers.

100% and dare you give some feedback on the poor performance of the slacker’s, you are labeled ‘mean’, ‘hard to work’. These slackers hold no accountability of the work and we can’t say a thing else they cry and run to complain and we become the bad person.
