Im planning on going 2 PSGs up
Lots of people are going to find their current roles are posted at lower PSGs, and those are the roles they’re most likely to land
Posting down to me means you’re unqualified to find a job outside of cvx. Aka trapped
Posting up pros: you get a better job and chance of promotion. Cons: don't get it.
Post down pros: you get to keep your job. Cons: you are viewed as a loser, could be miserable, and are highly likely to leave or be fired in the next few years.
I posted up in 2020 and got the job, but not the PSG - at the time. Didn't hurt in being competitive for and receiving a PSG the next year, but is not a guarantee. Benefit to the company, if you can do the job, is they get more bang for their buck, so I would advise to post up, if competitive and qualified, as opposed to posting down.
You can post up and may get the position but not the PSG unless it’s a placed job and even then it’s not guaranteed
If you are successful posting down, you will likely be at such a high CO that you will not receive salary increases for years to come. And, likely end up capping any chance for a future promotion. Some supervisors don’t want to burden their payroll with a higher cost employee at the top of the pay grade. But, having a job at all maybe worth it unless you have other options.
🤣 love The Office reference. I see you, well done.
Posting down won’t be a demotion.
Post down seems to be an expectation for all those 26’s left from this round. Happens automatically, right? If they have technical skills they should compete. And if the job is career ladder, i don’t think lose a psg.
Con: you unzip your pants and you find there is a calculator down there.
Posting up is one in thousand chance. Posting down is a demotion so do it only if you have to. But anyway if you are low performer posting down won’t save you.
