Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

EOI - Next Wave

Is there a way to guarantee a severance at this point or did that ship sail?

I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to EOI, I was on the fence, but recently I had some life changes that have now solidified my decision to leave Chevron.

My question, is there a way to guarantee that I get my EOI accepted? During the job selection, do I just enter EOI, for all 3 job postings? Or select EOI and leave the other 2 blank?

My team is already thin and I know they were expecting me to stay, this will throw a wrench in their plans, to where I’m worried they might force me into a position. At which point I’ll just have to put my 2 weeks notice in.

I’ve been saying this . They should extend AEOI throughout this process. This is getting stressful . They’ve been giving us the run around since late 2024 & by the time they’re done they’ve had us in limbo for a year. The more time that passes the more anxious we’re getting. Some of us didn’t know we’d be affected this bad 4 months in & we still have about 6-8 months to go. What if we find a job we want to apply to, we get it , leave without severance or the 6 months insurance. Then that work doesn’t work out ? We wouldn’t of left if cvx wasn’t doing these layoffs. Us leaving would be directly linked to the layoffs

Very good point raised below. If you want out. Let it be known. It would be ironic if someone actually worked hard to keep you and you actually want to leave.

I know of two 28+ psg that AEOI and then were denied. This company knows who they want and who they are willing to let go. It’s all about OC and the immediate business impact of losing that.

"Apply for a job you're not qualified for, doesn't guarantee you won't be written in for your existing job."

The key is to coordinate with someone who wants your job. If you want out, make it known. What's the worst that's going to happen? Provide KT to the person who wants your job to ensure their success. Find a way to get them in front of the people that matter.

Apply for something you are unqualified to do, meet the job owner, and make a mediocre impression.

the ship sailed for EOI. now, wait until the end of May/early June to see if you will be picked up by a manager.

They assigned me in mentor list now and my selection is not up for EOI yet so I do not know how long they will keep me for but I want to choose EOI for better mental health. It is not worth it to stay and work hard for regular paycheck at Chevron. It was not an easy decision but I focus on health and happiness over Chevron. It is sad to say I lost trust in current Chevron culture and how they proceed with change without transparency and trust from Chevron employees. How it can be successful without engaging Chevron employees in the process of change? Just rely to a small group and external consultants?

There were no guarantees in the AEOI either. Just check the EOI and hope they dont offer you a job. Supposedly there is no upper cap on EOI budget so likely they will be happy to see most people go voluntarily.

Assuming you are not in a closed job, then you have to be left standing to receive severance. Meaning you were not selected for positions you applied for and you were not written into a different job. If you are offered a job and turn it down, you get nothing.

I've seen many people denied on EOI over the years. It is typically a situation just like the OP where the team really needs the person. Heck, one gentleman was denied EOI in two different layoffs over the years. If you wanted to leave, you should have done AEOI. At this point there is a lot less certainty.

You have to select at least one position along with the option to EOI. EOI is not a choice to fill in as a position, it’s a separate choice. As stated you can be written in for a completely different position if your skills match accordingly and that role is needed.
And of course if you don’t accept an offer you will not get severance.
And if your EOI is accepted, you could have a long transition period, so it could be difficult to plan a new job with afterwards. If you do not finish your transition you do not get a severance.

You can still EOI. If it is accepted, it could be an extended end date. Been through these many times and I've never seen an EOI not be accepted. Some people got a 6 month extension which is great. Just make sure you're on the payroll through the end of the quarter for CIP purposes.

You gotta apply for one position with EOI.

No guarantees now
