Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Google Cloud Announcement last Wed.

Stock did nothing on this news, nobody cares about these 10yr quid pro quo partnerships.

At the end of the day what service is Lumen selling? Fast, d-mb pipes. As time goes on the pressure on margins for that will increase making it a commodity item just like DIA.

So Lumen will spend billions on buildout to make maybe the same amount back?

I was surprised that today's Google announcement didn't include an increase of FCF's or > revenue GUIDANCE with it, but then I thought about the decades worth of Lumen's predecessor company with our proprietary gifts, Level (3), and how we only gave away services to Google that brought them to Trillion Dollar Market Cap Status today, while our equity having been destroyed for nearly 30 years sits at < $4B if one can even fathom that. Yes, it started with our fiber of course but then layered services like VOIP and the "Soft Switch" that LVLT invented—but never licensed—to make IP Telephony work ubiquitously so that "GOOGLE VOICE, VONAGE, and many others" were ENABLED by (3). Then it graduated to wins like partnering with Google for Starbucks and replacing AT&T nationally. Can you please tell us if this is Lumen spending a fortune again to make these connections that only Google will benefit from exploiting our network services? Or, are there really sticky revenues in "subscription" form so that Google is requiring their customers' TRAFFIC coming into their data centers to pay Lumen for, by example, Black Lotus Labs' "security" since they peer and see 90 percent of the world's internet traffic especially bad actors coming through U.S. doors more likely to be China today, than ever before considering our tenuous economic relationship in flux? We should be making a fortune off of this while protecting Google's customers' incoming data, and then the speed factors for making AI robust and possible without latency. I hope you will be providing us with significant numbers color on what this news really means to Lumen owners on the fast approaching earnings call.
