Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Wave hoppers

Has anyone heard about employees being offered to participate in a different wave than the location/department is initially designated for? For example ctc being allowed to decide if they want to participate in wave 1 or wave 2?

Pick the second wave to get 5 more months of guaranteed pay and then get left standing

Not shocking that there are some exceptions. Probably even means saner heads are prevailing to address the most nonsensical results of the wave 1 / 2 split. Some people got really hosed.

It's happening for select roles in wave 1 where no ideal candidates for some roles, and exceptions are being made to all named individuals to post for a single and specific role in wave 1. If selected then they have a role. If not selected then they default back to wave 2. If you doubt this, then you haven't had your shoulder tapped.

I don't think people are "hopping" willingly. At least not many of them. The people I was told will be in a different round are likely because lots of people in the 2nd round actually AEOIed and they need people to fill those roles instead of letting them go in round 1.

To anyone thinking they're going to get an exception and be able to apply in 1H and 2H, keep dreaming. All official communications lately have clearly stated it's one or the other. Everyone who wants to (PSG 25 and below) can apply to the 1H leftovers (don't expect there to be much - maybe in Midland, TX or something) in the PDC falling between 1H/2H. Accept it - if you're someone who moves between functions often because you understood that Chevron valued that, I'm sorry, but you will be forced into applying in the selection round where your Workday FD identifier lies. Why would this be so? Because multi-functional people are more tenured, likely have legacy pensions, and higher salaries. Believe that or don't. Doesn't matter. Good luck. Going to be a rough(er) year.

This is so wrong, first MW gives a relocation schedule that is now compressing based on the reorg and all the THs (and there are many of them) stated that you can only participate in the round you are currently assigned. Total garbage. Decisions were made based on this information and maybe some would not have chosen the path they did if the information was correctly shared and applied unbiasedly. Haha

My boss said she could work a scenario that I could do both rounds in case I didn't find anything I liked in Round 1. She is always looking out for me!

Have you talked with your PDR or manager yet? There's an exception process mentioned on the Sharepoint site, but no details about how it works. I've heard some people say they've already been told how to play this particular part of the game. I get the sense that it's individualized. Just make sure you're talking with PDR and manager, and not just relying on water cooler talk or this website or others like it. It's easy to start building your own incorrect theories about what's happening.

I'm trying to be moved to Round 1 currently, since my background is primarily in the focus area for the first round except my current role which is in Round 2. Nobody seems to know how to shift rounds. People like us are actually being told that the PDR chooses for us, with no supervisor or personal input.
