If you've been following OpenText lately, you've probably noticed a trend: a growing number of products now start with "Core." Core Content, Core Signature, Core Archive, Core for SAP, Core Case Management—the list keeps growing.
So what's driving this? It's part of a larger internal shift to simplify branding and align everything under a unified SaaS-first product strategy. OpenText's portfolio has grown massively through acquisitions—Documentum, Axceler, Micro Focus, etc.—and the naming conventions have been all over the place. "Core" is the attempt to clean that up.
The New "Core" Families
- Core Content – A cloud-native content services platform with integrations into Microsoft 365, Salesforce, SAP, and others.
- Core Case Management – A low-code/no-code toolset for automating workflows and case processes.
- Core Signature – A secure e-signature tool, now tied directly into other Core products.
- Core Archive / Core for SAP – Targeted archiving solutions, especially for compliance-heavy industries.
- Core Capture – Intelligent document ingestion with automation and machine learning built in.
- etc etc
They explain that the change was done for:
- Simplification
- Cloud-first alignment
- Cross-solution integration (Whatever that means)
Was this truly cleanup or trying to put lipstick on a pig?
