Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Remote work ending for HQ

Would love to know if other HQ pyramids are being impacted ? Worked remote for target in design for almost 3 years and all remote team members within our pyramid were called into a meeting last week and told we have 1 month to decide to move to Minneapolis or we will be considered involuntarily resigned with no option to receive severance pay. Seems like a clever way to lay more people off while shaving costs. I don’t think they’re actually expecting many of us to move to HQ. In the meantime, still being given projects to work on and being told it’s “buisness as usual” until the month is up and we have to give our decision… Is it just me or is Target going bat sh-t crazy right now???

The people that cheer on RTO on unemployable and would never be able to get a job above a janitor. They are bitter and jealous of everyone with a brain that earns way more than they do and are very unhappy people. Just scroll on by when you see those comments, that person probably never worked an honest day in their life.

You know what's really sad? There are people who cheer on RTO despite enough evidence showing that people are happier AND MORE PRODUCTIVE when having the flexibility to work from home. As someone who was remote before remote jobs were a real thing (post COVID?), it's a shame that companies are bowing to the pressure of shareholders and executives willing to do anything to please them. If people are forced into the office, don't expect them to take their laptops home and knock out that production bug at 10pm. By pushing forward with RTO, executives are once again solidifying that blurred line of work and life.

I find it very funny that people complain about "going to work". Especially if you were in office pandemic. The litmus test is if you complain about going in and that " I get more done at home", you aren't really working or do t understand the concept of work.

Watching people go in is great entertainment, I have stocked up on popcorn to watch this sh-tshow

Relo is being offered but HR is not saying how much $$$ so I guess you’re just supposed to tell them you’re gunna move and then you get more information. The lack of transparency in that even doesn’t make someone wanna uproot their life for them

My team is only requiring one day in a week. I am usually in every day due to job specific duties but nothing close to everyone in 5-6 days a week.

I am in finance though.

Who led this meeting? HR or senior leaders in your area? Haven’t heard anything about this elsewhere yet.
