Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Offical WARN Posted for NJ

If you didn't know google it next is listed as July 3rd. The dates the warn has doesn't align since 4/3 was the date. Unsure if technology will be hit again as hard but this article even mentions software engineers.

The health insurance company Cigna's Evernorth Services is laying off 62 employees, mainly software engineers, on March 15 and 29, April 12 and July 3. "This decision was made with great care and focus, and we are providing a package that includes a variety of transition services for impacted colleagues," said Cigna spokesperson Justine Sessions. Sessions did not provide information on why the layoffs were taking place.

No wonder they did not say why!

It looks like the dates listed in the WARN notice are the Termination dates, not the notification dates. The big layoff on April 3 had some folks with a 90 day termination date of July 3. The April 12 date corresponds with a notification in March, since folks are unlikely to be laid off on a Saturday. There might be more layoffs in June to align with the July date as well.

Cigna notified the state in April. NJ is a 60 day warn state so this could mean impacts in June. Looks like 62 people out of Morris Plains according to one tracker I saw.
