Hello, I am an external applicant and wondering why there are remote postings if there is word on the street it will be RTO?

There’s an entire section on LinkedIn and the ladders for remote positions. Plenty of banks / insurance companies and other companies hiring remote. If RTO isn’t working for you why not go to a company that does foster that environment?
Not being a je-k about it either…honestly asking.
Folks, lets be clear here. RTO is a global corporate initiative. All the F500s are in lock-step; some more rigid than others, but the end goal is always the same. The illusion is that you have some sort of choice to make, adhere to policy or coffee badge. In reality the data is a straw man to show how non-compliant you are and to justify the means. But you were ALWAYS going to RTO; WFH was never about you or your work/life balance, it was about BUSINESS CONTINUITY. They don't give a F about you!

I am not a USAA fan, but the company did allow 2 days RTO and so many people ignored the requirement. Then they moved it to 3 days RTO and people still either showed up sometimes or badged in and out. Apparently not getting the hint, 4 days RTO was put in place and people simply could not abide by the requirements. Now, welcome to 5 days in the office and full monitoring.
USAA is the worst place I’ve ever worked. Twice. The sooner people quit treating this place like a legitimate place to work, the sooner boards like this disappear.
In my combined 12 months of employment with USAA, under 10 lines of code were written in totality with my teams. They had a south American b1tch running their team releases because this world of he-l was the best this person could hope for.
Quit worrying about this sh1thole of a company: Mickey D’s is better.
Cool story bro. 5 day RTO is the way. And everyone remote has 6 months to move to a hub office or they are off the payroll. That is real company culture.
Why not we just do 2 day RTO all employees and stay united
Are we twins? It seems they used the hiring bo-m of 2021 to di-k so many people over. They offered me a "full wfh" position in 2021 only to turnaround a year later and say we had to drudge our as--s into an office. When I got the offer I specifically asked HR if this was fulltime WFH and they said yes it was and will not change.
Some people on my team were no lie 59 miles away and they made them come in. I eventually left in 2023 but to a not as robust job market. I could have either had a real full time wfh position for many years or a hybrid role with better pay and prospects. Going to USAA due to their deceptive hiring practices set my career back years and tens of thousands of dollars.
Live and learn I guess but its not wonder such a deceitful company is failing with the FED. I would shed no tears if this place went out of business.
I was misled into believing I had a remote position, only for the USAA to arbitrarily change the rules and force me into a hybrid setup just because I live within 30 miles. This completely wrecked my work-life balance, as I now have to endure a grueling 1.5-hour commute each way, four days a week. They promised remote work, but that promise meant nothing.
The IT job market is bleak, and they’re exploiting that fact, knowing I have limited options. I feel utterly betrayed, especially considering I had better offers from other banks with higher pay back in 2021 and 2022. If only I had left then—I wouldn’t be stuck in this frustrating situation. Next time the Job market improves I won't show my loyalty to this greedy EMG's and C-Suites
I was hired as remote back in April 2021, my offer letter even stated full time remote. Well, May 2023 that all changed, since I live 48 miles from an office, was told I was being moved to a hybrid role of 3 days in office, then 4 days come Jan 2024. So I get to make a 96 mile round trip 4 days a week, and USAA knows the job market isn’t employee friendly like it was during the Great Resignation (2021-2022). Why do I stay? Has nothing to do with the “culture” as that has been destroyed, I stay only for the pay, this job is just a paycheck to me now.
Happy to hear that the people on this post still have their jobs. Most people on this layoff site have either been laid off or fired. The job market is extremely completitive right now and good paying positions are hard to obtain.
Bank aml is four.
Four miserable days of boredom and loneliness as no one in the office is on ky team…..
Member contact is still only 3 days a week in office.
USAA was posting "hybrid" 4 day in office roles as "remote" on linked in as recent as a few months ago.
Guess they are having issues finding condidates so they have to tweak their job postings to try and attract talent lol
Many were bait and switched so proceed with caution on accepting a role because of location, only accept the position if you are willing to become hybrid or RTO at least 4 days a week. There are still many remote roles being posted at USAA.
Some recruiters did follow the correct process and made sure the new hires were placed in the w@h program. Others, like ours, did not. USAA isn’t holding themselves accountable. HILS is a joke.
It doesn’t matter how you’re hired, I was bait and switched by being hired remote and then told I would have to report to an office. Honesty… nope, Integrity… nope, Loyalty…nope.
I chose to leave the circus.
The real question to ask is… does your department have a space left for you to come in?
You are not an external applicant
The thing that's crazy is when I worked there before 2020, our team in San Antonio was forced to go remote to make room in the office. It's so annoying they keep pushing that crud.
Maybe Usaa have trouble getting certain talent, but didn't USAA cut off career mobility for remote hires?
RTO has already been a thing for going on two years now. Anyone who is within 60 miles of a regional office or the home office has to go in four days per week. The rumor is that they are going to change it to five days per week soon.
There are still a healthy number of people who are fully remote, including new hires. Certain skill sets are hard to come by, so in those scenarios, postings can be for remote. As far as I'm aware, there aren't even rumors of forcing people outside the 60 mile radius to go into an office like other companies. Amazon, for example, required people who were fully remote to relocate near a regional office, but USAA hasn't done anything like that directly.
