Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

OpenText World 2025 in Nashville

So, a company that proudly identifies as Canadian has chosen to host its flagship North American event, not in Canada, but in the United States.

At a time when President Trump imposed unjustified tariffs targeting Canadian industries and workers, OpenText, under the leadership of its American CEO, has opted to invest tens of millions of dollars into a U.S. city, rather than supporting the Canadian economy.

Can someone explain how this aligns with the values of a company that claims to be Canadian? Where is the outrage from Canadian employees? Why isn’t the federal government questioning why a company benefiting from Canadian government contracts is choosing to direct significant spending across the border?

Even if you were willing to overlook the culture of micromanagement, blurred work-life boundaries, and broader internal concerns, this decision should raise serious questions.

When I left(recent) the largest customer was the US auto company General Motors. Nestle was up there. Canadian govt. never came up.

It’s funny how liberal Mark B has stopped sending woke-like emails, bending (like all other Nasdaq listed companies) to Trump’s new desires. Did he ever believe anything he said re. minorities, women rights etc? Or was he just aligning with the previous state of mind? Does he think for himself or is he just a puppet?

If we're not your friend, charge US Customers more money.

Y'all are crazy. You let anyone into your country and you have the worse housing crisis out of everyone.

But again, US is your problem, according to you frenchies. Not your own government.

And I believe the next single biggest customer after the Canadian government is one of the middle eastern governments . Probably Saudi Arabia.

The USA is important to Opentext but it is becoming less and less important every year.

As a Canadian I love our global expansion. The USA is not our friend.

For those that don’t realize it, the Canadian government is the single largest Opentext customer in the world.

The U.S. has a $26 trillion GDP vs Canadas $2.2 trillion. No sh-t your customers are in the U.S.

But sure. Block the customers and only sell to Canadians who can’t afford homes. Do it.

A lot of our customers are actually in the US. Let's not give Mark more reasons to nuke the entire company.

President Trump is proposing “unjustified” Tariffs to promote production and growth in the United States.

But, then you question what your government will do to promote more production and growth in Canada.

Wow.

I can’t believe you’re still a country.
