Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Data Breach in HIH

Why is no one talking about the fact that many of our clients do not allow offshore workers to have access to Production environments? How is this going to work. I personally have already seen 2 cases where offshore workers were given access and then legal had to step in and have their access removed.

Cigna leadership created and documented justifications for each job role in India to have production access BECAUSE the folks in India are 'employees' and not consultants. There goes the US data walking out the door. Of course, no one is telling our customers that people in India now have production data access.

As for breach offenses that have already occurred in India, Cigna won't do anything about it because the India employees make 1/3-1/2 of what a US employee makes, which means the company is saving money by keeping India employed vs US employees. Go Cigna!

I know of at least 3 HIH employees that have committed offenses that would have gotten anyone in the USA terminated immediately. Either HR laws in India make it impossible to fire someone, the managers/HR there are corrupt and accept bribes from employees (google bribe culture in India), or ELT is so all in on this terrible strategy that they eill let bad actors do stuff to avoid hurting HIH numbers. In any of those cases it is bad, and will lead to things getting worse.

Already have I seen a few cases where HIH team members were given access and it was walked back because they were not supposed to. No one was allowed to discuss it.

Is there a specific breach or are you simply just worried about offshore getting access to PROD?

If later, then yes, we are struggling with the same issue. Our leadership is telling us to push our resources offshore, PSO makes the most sense and they want to start there - but CIP is telling us no.

They are not talking to each other.
