Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Move on

I spent three years at Cigna with a clueless boss, impossible targets, and a team that made every day exhausting. I was drained in every way, and it even messed with my personal life. I finally left last year and now I’m paid better, working with actual adults, and growing instead of drowning. It took time to land something new, but I don’t regret the break at all. If you’re in a similar spot, I’d say start planning your escape. I promise better things are out there.

I was laid off in Jan. (Notified in Dec.) I wasn't planning on leaving because I'm near retirement and I'd hit the 10+-year mark, which gave me an extra week of PTO. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get that much time starting anywhere else, and at this point in my life, 10 days of PTO wouldn't cut it. Well, the layoff gave me no choice, so I started my search in earnest. I recently accepted a new job that I'm really excited about. The people I've met so far seem very nice, and the work seems as though it will be very interesting. They weren't able to meet my last salary, but I'm looking at the big picture. I was pretty unhappy at Cigna, and just trying to get through. So I expect I'll be engaged and interested for at least a while. And the best part? Since they couldn't match my salary, they offered me a ton of vacation. So my point in all of this is that you never know what's out there until you look and try. If you're cool with staying, then best of luck. But if you're not happy - like I was - it can't hurt to look. (And P.S. to the commenter who referenced the OP wandering here: It's normal to be curious about what's happening at the company that recently laid you off. Especially since it seems to be such a mess!!!)

But there’s still something about Cigna that you are still wandering here, trying to manipulate others. The next company/team can’t guarantee that it will be good. Yes, there are other factors but toxicity at some level is everywhere. Good luck to wherever you are. Best wishes to those who are still here and struggling. Hope we all can survive this.

Stop bragging! The job market is terrible. My friend had been on market for months. He sent out 400+ applications last month, only 6 interviews, no offer!
