Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Will I lose my scheduled PTO?

I was laid off with a termination date set 30 days out, but I had some PTO scheduled at the end of the month that I never canceled. Am I essentially losing those days? I’ve been trying to get in touch with Cigna but haven’t had any luck.

This will come off snarkier than it is meant but you should read your severance package letter. You should have received it during or immediately after the meeting where you got laid off. It has details on PTO and answers questions I've seen other people ask here.

I understand you may not have been in the best frame of mind to read it but I found that doing so actually settled my mind down a bit.

First, I am sorry that happened to you. Your PTO will be canceled and paid out with your last check. Most managers will still let you take the time off you just won't be billed the hours for it.

Also to the person who mentioned 401k I hope you are cranking up your contributions as high as you can handle. This is a great opportunity for people who are still actively contributing. Terrifying for people who are already retired and for some reason did not choose to move their money into a fixed return asset upon retirement.

Agree - you should be paid out for any unused PTO that you had accrued.

My manager told me that any PTO I'd scheduled would be canceled and paid out at the end of term instead. (I didn't have any scheduled, he just said that as part of the script he was reading) It might have some specifics in the severance doc if you wanna try searching it for keywords?
