Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

An apology would be a start

An apology from Target’s leaders is long overdue.

For the Pride merch rollback, cancelling of DEI programs, and falling store standards and closures. For low morale, inequitable pay, and lack of respect for the things that made Target special.

Apologize to your customers, your employees, and your partners. Start by acknowledging the mistakes and being contrite, and then take steps to find the right way back.

People are looking to you to make things right and to stand for something good. Get to work.

How about an apology to your employer for having the work ethic of a 5 yr old? How many of our “team” act like babies when they don’t get what they want? How many call in sick because the vacation calendar was full, and then whine when they really are sick but don’t have any sick pay and have to take a hit? Don’t want to do what your told, cry about it and say how it “triggers” you. Grow up and be the adult they thought they were hiring. Our jobs are not that bad, but you also don’t deserve a gold star for just doing the job you are paid to do.

Any apology should be from the team that had the great idea of having a “pride” merchandising department. That was only a $20M markdown.

Cornell needs to hand over the reins sooner rather than later, preferably to someone who isn’t going to continue to bend the knee, or walk back to the old ways of doing things: mainly midwesterners chained to their desks in Mpls struggling to work with more and more TMs half a world away. You’re a US company; focus on national talent with connections to, and a pulse on, the communities in their states and what the people want here in the US.
Wake up.

My wife and I had already been discussing moving back to India due to the political environment in the states, but with Target’s push with TII it’s almost pushing us into making the decision.

When you use a category of the population to make yourself look good but you don't actually put in the work to support them and drop them, this is what happens. Karma is real. Top leadership has been dumping stock earlier this year and month so they don't care about the average worker. Target employees need to rise up and say enough! Having worked there and did not believe any of the hype I feel truly bad for the people who believed. You can change this though. Stop nodding and agreeing to what's maybe fed to you. It's cultish.

Don’t expect any walking back of decisions (at least not publicly) until we get a new CEO. Then the new person will say we got off on the wrong track and look like a hero for restoring things

Anyone who went along with this DEI BS should be fired.

Best they can do is cut your stores hour budget 15% and/or “business transform” your team to Bengaluru or simply vanquish it altogether.

I would also add gaslighting people about career opportunities while rapidly expanding TII.
