I keep hearing about layoffs all the time. Every week, somebody else seems to be gone. I've been here for 12 years. I'm 48. At this point in my career, I expected more stability. Is that too much to ask for?

Why do you think HR’s got so many directors with so few reports, no real accountability, zero intelligence and frankly no work to do, but keep making more money and get all the special treatment @b9+1jr1a7x6f. They got that down to a science.
@cw+1jr1a7x6f I've been here and at legacy places for 11 years. Nothing's ever improved.
Actually @b0+1jr1a7x6f, your list is for functional, well organized workplaces. Not Cenovus.
I did all of those things, always a yes answer and still got shown the door regardless. So any type of stability is certainly not a thing, just like achieving a descent stock price is also not a thing!
Very inspirational. Did you copy/paste those tips from a LinkedIn post?
5 tips for keeping your job:
- Always try to work in a core function or business critical team
- Make you boss and their boss look good
- Be indispensable and adaptable
- Be respectful to your peers
- Never make excessive demands or refuse to do a task
Blah blah blah who cares it’s the patch. Don’t work if you want stability.
It could be even worse with a real witch on the broom daily interactions, like some of us have to deal with. Daily mental instability is also a true fact around here, one can only dream for some good stability around.
I have to deal with one at home and also at work, imagine that!! Wicked spells all day every day. I used to come to work for sanity once upon a time.
I was hired at 38, laid off at 48.
The very first round back in 2015 or around there, by design, targeted people 50 and over. It was well known. Don't expect stability at Cenovus, it hasn't been there for over 10 years.
Sadly organizational design in this company is lead by a know nothing HR team and directors and above who know little to nothing about which frontline work is essential.
Sadly, it is too much to ask....
