Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Carelon global solutions

They are offshoring anything they can to the Philippines ,India already has people processing claims what a disaster. word is that case management and UM will be offshored to the Philippines what a disgrace. Elevance needs to move their corporate office to the Philippines since that’s where most of their employees are at.

If you start to notice that they are asking to write up everything your jobs duties guess what you will be training your replacement

It’s not the people hired off shore fault. We can blame the money grubbing sr leadership and board. Yes much of UM is offshored CM they’ve tried and it was a colossal failure I’m sure they will try again. Israel failed . CM Philippines failed. Pretty sure they tried somewhere else also. UM offshore s*cks. Ridiculous, humiliating denials.

Internet reimbursement means they get to work from home, while US workers have to come into office. Explains the noise and lack of clarity when you call customer service.

@kh+1jr0k3ng8. frontline Carelon India associates make about 7/hr US. your 35/hr guesstimate is what their senior leaders would make.

I thought the rice allowance comment was a joke. Facebook and TikTok can have anything on there. Did some Google searches and found “clothing, laundry, and rice allowance” on the Philippines Indeed site.
I’m in sales based in the Illinois office and have to wear a suit everyday. Clothing and laundry allowance would be a nice perk. I like rice as much as the next guy. I’m getting too old for this.

This is not an American company anymore. It has been offshored! The US will be a 3rd world country soon. Maybe the work will come back when we are the cheap labor. Time to leave the US.

I trained my replacements in July of 2023. I was Rifd in October 2023. Yes they off shored the work I was doing to India. Not the folks in India's fault. leadership is wanting to off shore anything they can. Reality is are they really saving money. I have worked with off-shore resources since 1998. Why offshore if you cannot prove value?

Off shoring to a resource say 35.00 an hour does no good if they have to use two hours to do the same work in the states. Just hire someone at 70.00 an hour and have them do the work and under more control. Only SOME tasks should be offshore--like well planned and pre-scripted performance testing and results publishing. This leaves the brain trust in the states and has the folks off shore do the work overnight. Results are available in the am US time and then you start the cycle again.

The Philippines were getting trained on claims waaaaaaay back in 2015. This is not new. It’s just more and more is getting sent there because of cheaper labor.

It su-ks, but unfortunately, anything to cut costs, and save the company money.

If you have to train your replacement, does it specify that you have train them right? I am sure could leave out some steps ;)

We need tariffs on companies who offshore work in such a manner

Just think how much we’d save if our CEO lived in the Philippines and paid at their wage level for a CEO. That alone would save tens of millions

I am still confused on how companies in general consider the poor customer service with non English speaking employees as worth the cheap labor?

Some Carelon RN case review is being done in the Philippines and Puerto Rico now. Not sure about the MD portion of the case review.

I agree with OP. Corporate should just move their headquarters somewhere outside of the USA. Out of all internal employees, 31% now reside overseas and that percentage has been climbing and climbing. What a disgrace!

Don't train any replacements.

Let 'em twist in the wind.

This is Anti-American TREASON from WITHIN!
