You sound like some Indian nozzle that expects everyone to work 24/7. Maybe people have lives outside of work. You should try to find a hobby other then working yourself to death.

They asked about a JAR, not an initially job posted as remote. Reading is fundamental. Pick your “nutz up.” You seem like the type that would be fired any way so I’m sure this post isn’t something you should be worried about.

That has not been announced, and it would be a bit of a stretch for these jackasses to actually do that. A job accommodation request better be strongly worded too, and signed off by a medical professional.

So again, just more rumors. OP made it sound like there had been an annoucement.

If they go the 5 day RTO for everyone route similar to Amazon, 70% of my team is remote and no where near an office…ie they’re going to lose experienced people with process knowledge and operations will suffer bc most people won’t want to move. Many other groups in my org are set up similarly. Depending on how the economy plays out in the next year, I could see them using it to force attrition without severance.

Personally, I don’t care bc I’m set up to handle that scenario but I think it’s objectively pretty stupid to toss talent away like this. Teams should be able to self organize and managers should be trusted to make those calls. As long as the team/employee is performing, who cares? Nobody internally cared about this pre-covid when they were predicting remote would be the largest campus. I went remote in 2018 and it was just a conversation with my direct leader, not requiring any bureaucratic bs for approvals.

Saying it’s a privilege to work from home no it’s a privilege you have my skillset and I perform all of the required job duties regardless of work location. So when a job is posted as remote from the start does it say but only as a privilege ? You posted it that way!

If you have a job accommodation to wfh then you can continue to wfh, unless the requirements of the job no longer can accommodate (example 30% travel or required frequent in office partner/client meetings.) In most cases they would have to rewrite job descriptions and if you couldn’t meet the new in office requirements you will have 60 days to find another role internally before termination. If they offer you a comparable role you don’t want, you will be terminated without severance. Technically this is employers prerogative to change roles with the needs of the business so it should still be considered a privilege to wfh. Hope this helps!
