Does Elevance black list employees. I work there for almost ten years until I got RIF. I applied for several positions which I am fully qualified but got rejected. I had above average performance while employed but can’t figure out why I can’t get an interview.

Keep in mind that most new positions are postings for targeted hiring
I recommend you calm down and pay attention. Being RIFD alone doesn't mean someone is placed in "do not rehire" status. But if you're RIFD while on disciplinary action or did not receive a meets expectations on your last review, could most likely render that person as not eligible for rehire.
The HR rep will most definitely tell you. Additionally, someone not eligible for rehire won't be eligible for all the Right management services.
I was laid off in January. Someone on my team who was also laid off in January was just contacted by HR for a position in another health plan. So it's false that they put us on no rehire status.
If you are asking if Elevance Health has "do not rehire" criteria... they do. You can ask the recruiter what your status is.
You’re either too old, too expensive, not near a desired pulse point, your manager checked some negative boxes, you’re not off-shore OR any combination of the above.
As for “black list”: it’s a practice as old as time.
I was laid off in October, rehired for a job that was a promotion and I got more money. I don’t go above and beyond. I do the bare minimum and my manager leaves me alone. I use this time to build my own business so I can leave soon.
There is no black list, they aren’t purposely not rehiring you..I hate this company just as much as everyone else but don’t listen to all the gossip on here all the time.
Something to bring up that i've learned, a lot of HR departments are using AI to screen applicants. If you don't meet criteria the AI system kicks you out. So you need to tailor your resume to get past AI screeners. you can find some resources if you google it.
Also want to point out that if you leave willingly, don’t expect to come back. The grass may or may not be greener elsewhere but once you leave, it’s very hard to return.
@c2+1 Yes, they will do that to you if they think you weren't willing to drink the company Kool-Aid. It is a really toxic work environment.
Could be the jobs don’t actually exist. Before I left I saw a ton of postings that were never filled. Hard to justify to the rat why they need to hire when he is busy offloading people.
Sort of. I was with WellPoint in 2006’ish . When I accepted my last position at Anthem( no longer work there now), once they ran my background check they said I wasn’t rehireable. I was. I left on my own terms for another opportunity. It showed that as reason why I left. Recruiter was baffled and said would need to run through hiring manager for clearance. Manager that hired me had to submit a bunch of paperwork to get my offer finalized. Crazy?! So basically my manager while I was WellPoint in 2006’ish sabotaged my paperwork.
If you are not close to a PulsePoint you will not get hired into another department of given an opportunity for another job.
And yes, you can be blacklisted and that has always been an option by the manager letting you go.
in addition to what has already been said, you should also understand that HR scrubs out many (if not most) applications before they get to the manager - and I wouldn't believe HR is blacklisting anyone that has been OK'd to rehire. In my experience, HR scrubs out a lot of good candidates simply because they don't understand the position being filled or they get distracted by credentials that don't really matter to the hiring manager. In fact, one of the top people on my team was originally excluded from HR's list of applicants to me because she didn't have a college degree - even though she had 30+ years of industry experience and a proven track record. Plus, there's a lot of competition in the job market right now. So, the unfortunately reality is even great applicants get buried.
I wouldn’t take it too personally. Assume they want to give available positions to offshore as they have done for years and continue to.
if you currently work there and are trying to get out of your department and to another one - realize your manager can easily "block" it by hesitating if the proposed new manager asked "if you had to do it again, would you hire him" - easy - if you leave of course you could be marked as "not eligible for rehire" and never know - long practice - I would never use this place as a reference - pick a person with credentials who can speak to your abilities and accomplishments -
I currently work for Elevance on a team that is having massive layoffs. My name has not been called yet, but over half of our team is gone. I have been applying to jobs in other departments for the last year trying to get off this team. I am highly qualified for the positions I am applying for and have been at Elevance/Anthem for almost ten years. I am getting rejection emails within an hour of submitting my application. I haven’t had one interview. All of my evaluations have been good and I’ve never had any rating below the “meets expectations”. I’ve gotten multiple awards and acknowledgments from my supervisors over the years and I always meet my department monthly metrics. There is no reason why I should not be getting called for an interview. Something is definitely going on and I have wondered for months now if my file has been flagged or marked as non transferable.
Not saying I agree with this but your former manager could’ve marked you as not rehirable. That is something that has been done in the past for RIFs. Basically your last boss had the choice to ensure you wouldnt be hired back. It is a box on the assessments that are done when someone is RIF’d. Assessments are done, by the way, on all of your peers as well when you are RIF’d. The manager doing the assessment will purposely map the ones they want to RIF at the bottom for the HR assessment. Interesting enough though is I did not see that option for the most recent assessment template so maybe they have gone away from it.
I've had a similar experience and currently work for the company. I have a feeling that a large number of the positions posted are given to people the hiring manager already has in mind. Posting the position is just a required formality.
