Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Stock Price Under 60

What will EH and ELT do? Layoffs? No way they can take that 46% tariff in Vietnam.

This deserves its own thread here.

it has so much meat against HON and MF that hopefully this gives EH enough leverage to pull the trigger.

Enough is enough.

@a5+1jqww22c0 SHOCKED people are down voting this.

Must be the same mo--ns who think putting tariffs on an uninhibited island and a US military base rather than Russia is the act of a sane man.

Losers.

Nike will be fine in the long run, but expect a revised growth trajectory. Rising costs will either squeeze margins or lead to price hikes that weaken demand and lower revenue even more. In the short term, more layoffs are coming. Give it a year (or less), and this website will be buzzing.

Even with tarrifs it’s cheaper to produce overseas than the U.S., the labor force here is not skilled in apparel and footwear, the machinery and yarn supplies don’t exist to do innovation or wovens. The unify monopoly alone will limit quality in this region. I see only higher prices, and / or Chinese factories opening shop in the U.S. and still sending the money back to China.

Nike had a million options back in the day. They tried “ManRev” a fun Nike type acronym for manufacturing revolution and bought companies doing 3d printing and advanced manufacturing but they said nah let’s just do everything overseas. Nike had premium product and could have tried to diversify the location but gave up. So here we are.

Also would love to see all the $ we spent with consultants on “strategy” to do it exactly 100% wrong.

Yes huge layoffs of support staff in USA Nike will have to figure a way to manufacture here or ultimately die because someone else is going to do it. That’s how economics works.

Go read shoe dog Phil sourced it from the cheapest place which will be USA with tariffs and advanced manufacturing.

The one thing the orange mo--n was allegedly good at was the economy and he’s driving us right into a recession. Or worse.

Dude could have just cut taxes some more and let inflation keep cooling like it was and looked like a hero when things got good again.
