Hyderabad Innovation Hub
Job Elimination

what does HIH (Hyderabad I-? H-?)
also what is JE?
I got laid off today after many years of dedicated work. It feels like a gut punch. I do feel like my job was eliminated and moved overseas. It is quite depressing to see how Cigna treats their long tenured employees. I actually told me manager that, many times, customers were complaining to me that they could not understand the reps from overseas very well. They would literally hang up and then call back until they got someone from the U.S.
Anyone from core engineering or from dd&e laid off?
3 laid off from my team today. No HIH either. It kinda seems like they just wanna outsource our jobs. It’s such a laughable Corporatese joke to call it an “innovation hub” when people who innovate here lose their job and it suddenly appears as a job opening in another country.
Can't share too much, unfortunately, but from the table in the paperwork it does look like 5-8% under my VP.
Most severance packages require a signed statement which have NDA and non defamation language included. I would be more shocked if Cigna did NOT have this language in there
“I see that a couple people said members on their team were affected, can you share what team that was?”
“Don’t share please! It might jeopardize your severance package!”
How would posting on an anonymous board what team or dept you work for and were just layed off from impact severance package? Does it say in severance pkg paperwork that you’re not allowed to discuss?

From the CT WARN site:
“Employers are affected if, during a 30-day period, they:
close a facility or discontinue an operating unit and 50 or more full-time workers suffer an employment loss;
or
have a reduction in force that results in an employment loss for 50-499 full-time workers (and these workers comprise at least 33% of the total workforce at a single site of employment);
or
have a reduction in force that results in an “employment loss” for 500 or more full-time workers at a single site of employment.”
They’re too big to qualify for #2 and probably strategically choose by location to stay under #3
One on my team was let go today
" This has been a long-term strategic plan of bringing in HIH while letting US workers go in waves so they don't trigger the WARN Act."
Hello, curious how this would avoid triggering the WARN Act? wouldn't a layoff of US based workers trigger it regardless?
Just had my call. Two on my team.
Everyone should refuse to help bring the offshore folks up to speed. Let the company feel the pain of their ineptitude.
Absolutely! Strategic move to
Get rid of folks on site.

Yes, isn't that kind of obvious? This has been a long-term strategic plan of bringing in HIH while letting US workers go in waves so they don't trigger the WARN Act.
