I know many of you hate that we were told about cuts in advance, but I'm grateful. This gives me plenty of time to prepare both mentally and in general. That'll make the whole process much easier, whatever happens in the end. If I didn't have this time and they just decided to drop it on us out of the blue, I'd be devastated.

When Seagate bought Maxtor, I had time. Applied and received my green card and a new job in this time of preparation until I was lay-off. I did not even know about the word "package" as I worried that I need to leave the country within 30 days of lay-off.
