Can someone help me out? What percent of the variable bonus is long term bonus that’s vested and what’s the vesting schedule? The HR person i got either wouldn’t tell me or doesn’t know…

@2sev+1jqtpcLB For why your bonus is nowhere near the other one posted it’s because they’re not riding you like the mule that person is. You’re not a freeloader but if you’re not working like that other person, don’t expect the big bonus.
I’m in tech and I didn’t make a near six figure bonus but I did get some of it in RSUs. My schedule is probably 80% of what the other post said. Nights, weekends but no holidays and probably average 60 hour workweeks.
It’s all relative. From what I’ve seen from those who share, bonuses seem to be where the extra time/effort gets recognized. The question is, do you want to work that hard for something that is not guaranteed? I don’t think people who say no are wrong - or freeloaders.
@2wet I work in tech and have given up a ton of my family life and weekends for my job but get nowhere near that level of bonus.
Stop acting like we are freeloading know-nothings. It only makes your silver-spooned perch among your ivory tower look worse.
OP - final part of your question - vesting schedule is 4 years.
OP: Last year, if the bonus is 50k or less, all cash.
if more than 50K, then it is a percentage in cash, percentage in RSUs. the percentage is tiered. the higher the bonus, the higher the percentage in RSUs.
No word on bonus pools this year yet. each year there's been a way the rules have changed and been applied retroactively, so i'm expecting something will be different this year as well... but haven't gotten any hints on what.
The down votes on the Tech bonus number is….weird. Is it a lot of money? Yes. Do you get robbed of any value over $50k? Yes.
If anyone thinks those numbers are crazy for tech, by all means, come work with us. Surrender your weekends, holidays, PTO and be ready for average workweek hours of 70ish. Not to mention trying to make pigs fly every other day with the lousy tech debt we have.
As the person noted - they got that bonus and left anyway. Speaks volumes.
CIB Dir. here, no bonus numbers released yet, calibration happening now. Merit increases will be a bit higher, but no word yet on bonus.
I heard bonuses have been cut by 50% as a way to push attrition. it will be blamed on the recession.
This year bonuses will be in the form of plush ponies
work hard, get educated, stop complaining and you might be able to get to a position where you have a decent bonus. took me many many years but I finally got there and while there are people making more than me that are you get and did it quicker, I wish them no ill.
@lqu+1jqtpcLB Principal IC.
@kzb+1jqtpcLB You must be a Sr. Manager or above level (or maybe cap mkts?).
If you're at a Lead level IC, $100k isn't likely.
@wvo+1jqtpcLB There are lots of these in Tech. My 2022 bonus was almost $100k - I still left.
Apparently you drive a much nicer car than I do. I’m not bonused anything like that. Over 50k? Ha! 5 digits would impress me.
Don't you love and appreciate the transparency?
like last year once you get over 50k it gets split with a lower % going to LTI which has a 4 year vest. there split varies based on how much your bonus is so someone with a 100k bonus likely has a higher % going to LTI than someone with 50K.01. I've yet to see the matrix.
Funny how these big-money makers are too privileged to understand the tax code.
This guy gets it. Withholding on a specific check and the actual rate paid on your income for the year aren't the same thing.
Bonuses aren't taxed any differently than normal salary..
Ditto the tax hit!
The percentage that's stock isn't published but anything over 50k total bonus will have some percentage in stock.
It was around $50K last year; anything above went into Long-Term-Incentive.....what's the biggest kick in the ba--s is the 38% tax hit off the top since bonuses are taxed at the maximum income tax bracket.
Wouldn't know, I'm not a silver spoon type.
I work for a living.
