Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Hooray for Hybrid!

Does anyone else feel as invigorated as I do about our hybrid work edict? I love that I spend time and money commuting longer to do exactly what I do from home, with less productivity, more background noise, more interruptions, worse amenities, worse food and no one that I actually work with!

It's not "gaming" any requirements. These are the rules set by HR and I've confirmed with HR there is no restriction of certain hours or days of the week when a badge swipe is allowed. If the office is open 24/7 then going in any time is valid. There is also no requirement on the length of time you need to spend at a pulse point or how long a computer should be connected to the network. The policy only mentions to not swipe your badge and then leave immediately.

@fd+1jqrnhr35. that is great you’ve been able to get away with that thus far but a heads-up that people trying to “game” the requirement have been terminated. May or may not happen to you but I can confirm it has happened. Your boss may or may not care but a report can be run to see what days you are badging in and how long you were connected at the pulsepoint.

I've been going to my PulsePoint on the weekends. With no traffic and people to deal with I just stop in and grab a cup of coffee then head out. If you have weekend errands and can do it near a PulsePoint it makes life easier.

Seems like the rules for Carelon are different than Eh. Carelon has total freedom and are permitted to simply swipe twice a month

Can I ask what updates to the hybrid policy were communicated?

Now, now! The automobile, commercial real estate, restaurant, petroleum, and local government industries must be fed. Do your part dear citizen: Commute!

To come in and work in my role which requires me to BE ON THE PHONE WITH MEMBERS and hit metrics and sit in a loud environment, with no one I ever knew or work with, is beyond insane. I lug in equipment, spend countless time finding my "desk", arguing with another stranger that this is "my reserved space not there's", then get called on the carpet for not being available. I collaborate with no one - I have to endure (as do my members) loud ridiculous conversations from people who do who knows what all day but walk around and complain how much they hate this experience and look for a pal to complain to - worthless/no value/ridiculous

Promotions come only if you’re part of the clique that su-ks up to management. It’s been like that here for years.

What irritates me the most about this useless waste of our time and money is our manager has different rules of the hybrid schedule dependent upon whether or not you are part of her 'secret' clique. I already know I am never going to get another promotion at this h_ll hole company so those of us in that situation should be allowed to continue to work remote full time as agreed upon when we were initially hired.

I’ve worked from home for about 20 years between Anthem and previous companies, started hybrid here a couple years back. I am one of those who no one from my area or even the entire org under my VP is in my pulsepoint. Literally just going to check a box.

There is value in face to face interaction IF there are those from your team or a close business partner you can collaborate with at your pulsepoint. Other than that, there is really no reason to go. There should be a process for hybrid waivers if you literally cant collaborate with anyone at the pulsepoint.

I will caution associates who say their boss told them it was okay to not go in but your status is workday shows hybrid. Unless you are formally listed as remote. your boss does not have the authority to say “dont worry about it”.

Also. in the hybrid dashboard, if you are required to go in 1-2 times per week based on your hybrid category, you technically show as green with 3 visits in a month. Doesnt matter if all 3 visits are in the same week. Your boss can see what days specifically you are coming in so they may question why you only came in 3 but technically, 3 is green monthly in the hybrid dashboard that your boss has.
