Our big boss was let go last week. Great guy, was the VP service delivery for maritime. We think he gotten canned because his Viasat boss couldnt understand the maritime install and servicing business which actually aint rocket science.

So now the big brains of global ops are pushing another VP to run everything in maritime aftersales from installs to servicing to repairs to customer support to training to account management. Until the Viasat boss doesn't understand that any better, and then guess what?

The severance check is a lot better than the longevity awards they used to give out. I bet there are a lot of folks hoping for a check to help kick off their retirement.

Have you seen the amount of high paid employees vs this company that can’t even maintain a billion dollar valuation? Layoffs are soon and will be worse than November 2023 when all metrics were better. Too much cope as always here.

Sure, Inmarsat's got a solid, public policy; it's not like we're at-will employees! It's 3-4 weeks of severance per year of service, depending on seniority. In the UK, people often get 6-12 months' salary in cash, mostly tax-free, on top of the 3-6 months notice period we are asked to spend gardening.

Good companies post their severance policies instead of keeping them under cloak. I bet Inmarsat had published theirs.

If they were going to have another RIF, they would have done it before Guru left so he’d get the blame. That means no RIFs anytime soon.

Be afraid. The stock can’t stay this low without more layoffs.

I'm jealous of the ex Inmarsat staff in late 2023 who got nice severance packages. Many of the senior ones did very well indeed.

Viasat is an already weathered ship at sea, that's lost all its engines, who has a category 5 hurricane headed its way ie trumps economy.

Nothing unless Viasat is being acquired by someone else. Is that happening?

Nothing.

Might as well layoff the entire P&C staff. Utterly useless as they meander through textbook solutions to improve morale. Meanwhile, they all are quitting.
