Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Are you ready for this week?

Anyone else low-key hoping for severance at this point? Layoffs are basically the golden parachute of this sinking ship. I’d rather take the payout than keep rowing.

Many IT individuals impacted today. And in customer focused roles, which is rich.

It's not a false alarm, you'll see tomorrow.

This Board got quiet.
Calm before the storm or a false alarm?

As ready as one can be. Trying to tell myself that if I'm gone, it's destiny. Last layoff brought me to Cigna...who knows, the next one may bring me to retirement. Praying for folks to land softly with this one.

And do we know any teams on that chopping block or big mystery still, as usual, to keep us allll in a state of perpetual fear and anxiety?

He said he'd keep it in mind if it came up again! But the last round was completely out of his hands, done by people so high up we never even heard of them so I don't think he'll have a say in any additional rounds. He's a really kind dude which is why I was comfortable bringing it up in the first place- honestly I'm worried he might get swept next round and everyone in the vicinity will be worse off for it but I guess that's just the direction things are heading here :/

Only if you don't mind sharing of course, but how did your manager take it when you proposed that?

Yeah I'm ready to go and luckily I have decent savings and don't have kids so severance should keep me afloat for enough time to get my bearings. I hope I get chopped in favor of my coworkers who are in more precarious situations and I let my manager know as much during the last layoff round to hit our team, so here's hoping

Maybe if you are earlier in your career, with marketable skills, have a reasonable savings, another household income earner, and limited dependents. But many people are not that fortunate. In fact, most of the country are not that fortunate. I feel for those on the chopping block.
