Long story short, I am fully remote in one state and requested to transfer states. I was denied on the basis of this request came after "future location assignment" was finalized and that the new address is further than 30 miles from the hub location so I wouldn't be able to be hybrid... Thus the decline? This doesn't really make sense to me. Has anyone heard of this or been approved to move from state to state fully remote within the last month?

It’s very apparent that certain people in HR are following this thread given the posts that are being downvoted. You’re a sad bunch that lives in alternate reality. My hope is G.K. undos Andy’s mess.
It is HEAVILY dependent on your org…
No worries about getting relocation denied. With the new CEO coming in you're going to be laid off then you can move anywhere you want.
Where were you the last 1 year? RTO is based on position, not your role.
Recruiter here- Remote days are not over depending on the business line. The only norm as USB is complete chaos.
You waited too long. Should have done that in 2023. Remote days are over.
Not surprised, majority of companies have been getting rid of remote work and laying off remote workers.
I know of a remote employee that wanted to relocate out of state due to their spouse being offered a job. HR denied the request to relocate. They have to relocate within their current state if they were to decide to ever move. Why would you deny the request to relocate if they are already a remote employee? To get them to quit.
i work with an individual who was approved to move remote to another state.
Downvote all you want but the bank is in no way obligated to approve your relocation let alone as a remote worker. Read the room. RTO push has been going on for months now with the ultimate goal being a thinning out of remote workers. You should have at least picked an address that is within 30 miles to a hub in the new location. Gotta give up something ...
It sounds like soon you will be expected to be hybrid not 100% remote to be honest.
