Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

What a miserable place

Anyone else feel like they are suffering from functional depression while working here? I feel like I come in and do my work but I’m really just empty inside. Director here and I get to see the politics, toxicity, RIFs and corporate greed on a regular basis. I absolutely dread firing up the laptop every morning. Looking for another job but it’s not easy out there.

By the way, did anyone notice the stock price increase lately? Anyone know what that’s from? The story is out on yahoo finance. CFO was at a recent investor conference and comments were made that current estimates on wall street for Elevances profits in Q1 were lower than management’s expectations. Can anyone guess why? If you guessed because the street isn’t taking into account all of the money coming off the books from RIFs that we have done and continue to do you win a prize….This is just truly a horrible place to work.

I just completed the enjoyer voice survey. Since WNBA took over the we survey is ignored, glossed over, or just not given. This year I stopped giving my honest assessment and went over the top. All 10s and comments like leadership team like this has been been assembled by god himself. Let them rot in their own exuberance.

Try being a Customer Service Rep taking back to back calls all day every day. Much of our fate is in the hands of customers and providers who are feeling the effects of the layoffs. Whoever convinced the higher ups that AI can do what we do is in for a big surprise.

Sounds like you need a Mental Health LOA. Take it before you crash and burn. Gives you time to breathe and plan.

Just throwing in my 2 cents here! I am a long timer and I am not miserable. Concerned about Rif's and outsourcing...YES!! But I come to work each day and give 100%...because that is what I am being paid to do. Misery I personally feel can also come your direct managers...and I am grateful to have the manager and leads that I do.

@bs+1jqkmfaca isn't that the truth about saving money will get you no where. I saved Helevance 1M twice in my career, caught major errors several times and prevented serious issues from developing. My position was eliminated last fall, saving Money and preventing catastrophes got me nowhere.

It’s absolutely miserable working here. As a leader as well I’m just over the nonsense. Interviews are finally picking for me and hope to be out relatively soon.

I feel pretty “trapped” as well. Been here a good while and now “of a certain age” as well.

Hoping I could stay till retirement but have little confidence I will make it. Then be assed out in late 50s a little too early to retire and tool old to get hired anywhere else.

As for the corruption/incompetence, I have come to the startling conclusion that the best way to get ahead here is SPEND money, not try to save it.

Ive seen people with little actual experience in a given area fluff up a whole department out of thin air that does little of real value…all because they had the uncanny ability to create compelling stories with PowerPoint explaining why we need more budget for more vendors and consultants to create even more fluff.

By the time you’re done you have a “team of teams” that, if it disappears tomorrow no one would know, yet seems to think it’s doing something crucial.

THIS is what gets you ahead here…

Not shocking that a company would struggle with such a culture.
