Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Wtf is a “digital analyst”?

Why do we have so many bullsh-t roles like that? Let’s cut those and all of scrum and agile RTE cr-p, along with advisors and PM/POs who just sit in meetings… before we cut actual roles like field engineers and IT folks, who we need. God i hate these greedy mba dude bro clowns who su-k the teet of whatever bs consulting company they hire to tell them what they wanna hear.

So true. Too many nontechnical do nothing midwits who want to feel involved in the real technical work but aren’t qualified nor smart enough to comprehend. This place is a joke 😂

Clearly the OP has never worked in any of the roles they mentioned. I work on a team of highly technical resources and they have no clue how to do any project management, requirements gathering, contracts, vendor management, budgets etc. I'm not saying we need 100s of people doing these but you need analyst roles which I can guranatee will not work well from low-cost locations. Good luck when your projects are delayed and have costs overruns even more than they do today.

OP thinks only his S don’t stink and is a bitter soul. Haha, keep on keeping on, dimwit (the fat that thinks he’s not)!

Part of the reason they eliminated the BA role was also from a prior re-org (2015?) when one the illustrious consulting firms (either BCG or McKinsey) went through the org charts and declared that we had way too many BA's relative to peers (of course) and that we needed to get rid of them to cut costs.

No, those are not digital analysts. Those are BI or data analysts or software/app engineers.

Digital analysts are not technical to do low-code stuff either. They are really business analysts as the previous comment noted.

The people who work in PowerBI or make RPAs (bots). Typically offshored. If they aren’t now, they will be in the future.

Digital analyst is just AG’s way of saving face and bringing back the business analyst role. There was a team that tried to bring it back because BAs are needed. But because we were still pushing this agile and SAFe BS, where BA is supposedly the role of every team member.. they decided to eliminate that role

Well guess what, chevron needs business analysts to do requirement gathering and translate business to IT.. so they made up a d-mb title.

it's the guy that's going to build a Spotfire dashboard for you that shows the same thing that you have built in Excel with just a different chart type and color palette. Then, he will unveil a new KPI that will utilize the same data set as an existing KPI, but with a different name. Winning!

@ No idea. That's pretty funny to a fellow geek. It all just magically happens. Can't we just use Excel or Access.

Until you can explain to me how to rationalise our petabytes of diffused data and uncontextualized data sources hosted in non-integrated data repositories I guess you will need a digital analyst? But you already know how right? It easy AI? Lol
