Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What is the value of great performance?

Until now, I have always put in maximum effort, tried to have the best possible performance, but now I regret exhausting myself in that way.
What did I get from giving my best? Pretty much nothing. All I got are worries about being laid off while someone who had a worse performance will survive the cuts.

Which strategy are you talking about? The company's fate is pretty much tied to pc clients and server chipset and processor business. Everything else is a blip.

Seems to me if you just flush all of the side projects like graphics, wireless, memory and foundry business (and don't get me wrong, these were an incredible distraction costing billions of dollars losses...) , then you are left starring at is a monumental sized execution failure that would be a stellar Harvard Business School case.

HR, Finance, Strategy, SMG, Legal, Ops and TAs, if you're not a TA in a group of <1k, then youre safe. If youre not in one of the groups listed, you have nothing to worry about..

The next wave will be PEs and senior PEs. Watch out!!

IT is notorious for keeping employees that should have been axed long ago. Proof of that can be found if the CTO is still the same Santa Clara-based one that was there in the 201x years. Secondary proof can be found if some of the PEs that he and former CIO KS approved are still there.

Just because you’re good doesn’t mean you are safe, and just because you’re useless doesn’t mean you can’t survive (again)!

Most won’t be laid off so I wouldn’t worry about it unless you are the lowest performer on your team

Unfortunately good execution on bad strategy results in situations like this.

The middle management is incompetent and cannot formulate a good strategy. Neither does ELT.. so the lower most layer faces the brunt since middle management and ELT chicken out when it comes to taking responsibility
