Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Less career growth

It was confirmed in the RBU QA session today that we can all anticipate less career growth going forward, due to fewer senior level roles across the board. Add that the stifled psg progression, and down grading of performance reviews. Gonna be a great place to work…

Career prospects? Never heard of them unless you are DEI or a kiss-a**.

what we are looking at I think is stagflation, see Japan

you are seeing massive debt including unfunded liabilities that can't be repaid
stimuli won't work

a massive increase in the labor pool with mostly limited intelligence, 0 integrity, 0 creativity indians

monopolies with limited competition

a non-merit based society based on some sort of useless financialization

this is a self-inflicted wound
i don't see how it is going to turn around
on the plus side Europe and Canada will go down first and harder

What we're seeing is just like the 60's and pre-embargo 70's when oil was $2/bbl (inflation corrected to $20/bbl today). Geologists in Houston drove taxis as a 2nd income. Pay for petrotechs and engineers was on par with what teachers and mailmen were earning. Pay raises (even in hyper-inflation 70's) were miniscule. Career advancement potential was virtually zero. Fast-forward to today, even $75 oil is not going to sustain companies outside of NOCs in the future.

And the children of the executives. We still have a lot of them.

The only people that have a chance of getting promoted into management positions in the "New Chevron" are Indians. The ENGINE has been built with a new direct line into Chevron management. The previous management teams will be carefully gleaned out over time.

Short term goal: ferret out anyone who might be sniffing around and showing interest in my job and start rumors about them.
Long term goal: find a job with a non publicly traded company that cares only about investors

Short term goal:
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women…thus securing a job in the reorg.
Long Term Goal:
Leverage my people skills and continue building relationships so that I can secure an advisor position in accounting.

In the tv show The Sandman (2022), based on the Neil Gaiman novel, Lu----r and Dream engage in a battle of wits.

"In the last melee round, when Lu----r embodies “anti-life” (that is, “the dark at the end of everything”) and Dream stands at the edge of defeat (and death), he 'allegedly' wins by saying “I am hope.” As Lu----r grows despondent, Dream asks “What is it that ki-ls hope?”

Lu----r responds, "Wait, that's easy, work at Chevron." Dream was speechless and Lu----r won the battle.

I’m a green badge, can only hope there is something for me once this is done. Any prospects of becoming blue seem distant.

What are some of the funniest short and long term goals that could be put on talent cards? Make me laugh…

I think talent cards (and PMI) are like taking the blue pill in the Matrix

So is filling out short term and long term goals in the talent cards just an exercise in futility? Serious question…are promotions a complete thing of the past at this point?

Career growth for most was just a convincing fantasy in the past. Many years hard work for the promise of a promotion, that was not going to happen. Now we know the truth. Step 1 of our direct culture completed!
