Less minorities makes Seagate more attractive to investors. The quarterly announcement backs this up. Leadership has done a great job of keeping the executive levels mostly pure. Time to remove some liabilities and dead weight. Seagate stock will rise again!

Just the published layoff $$ alone support that most of the head count will come from Asia. They said some thing like $65M will be cost of lay off. $65M/3K is about $22K. But then the expected annual savings of $110M means it will take a good number of people in the USA with their higher salaries to get there. I suspect that China will have the highest % of the head count due to most of the products being that are made there are being displaced by flash. I don't expect many out of Singapore due to the governmental subsidy that is paid there. Also if you look at the organizational changes that have been made it looks like more management is going to be coming from there which is probably required by the Singapore gov to get the $$ from them.

Imagine calling for change on anonymous boards of a company that you no longer work for..

Johor plant will shut down.

Jobs with made up roles will be cut (I.e: Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Analyst).

R&D teams will be significantly cut.

Operators will be cut as there will be more idling of tools in all plants.

Stop rumor mongering about who will be affected. You have no clue and neither do I.

No news yet at NRM concerning what groups and or percentages. Hard to say if some groups or teams will get hit harder than others. The Wafer team is expanding so very unlikely they will anyone other than Problem Children. The rest of us will need to be ready. Clean your cube of personals and leave the rest for your manager to cleanup! Maybe leave a tuna fish sandwich behind your file cabinet. JK Go Vikes!
