Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Are Covington subsurface roles moving to Houston?

Since we are copying Exxon and Shell, how long till we get rid of subsurface roles in Covington like Shell moved roles out of New Orleans? If we are closing Denver are we getting rid of all ways to get out of Houston?

Yeah sure it’s cooked. Its days are numbered. I mean other than the fact that capital spend, production, and activity is higher for CVX in GOA than it’s ever been in history it’s totally dead you guys. Y’all need to just come here and live in Conroe with us losers.

Think Tulsa, Los Angeles, New Orleans (before Covington), Lafayette, San Ramon, Denver (pre-Noble), Moon Township. Eventually all these offices ran their course and were closed and staff/operations consolidated elsewhere. Covington, as the last dying gasp of Louisiana operations, will be soon. Its days were numbered as soon as Shelf operations were sold some years ago.

I was in a meeting and Covington HC was discussed for like 1 minute and if Houston could absorb those personnel or just send the work somewhere else. No conclusion. It was just a question and we did not have time to add it to the agenda.

Look at all the Houston folks hating on Covington in this thread. Sorry you guys have to deal with two hour commutes to that tornado magnet downtown. Covington is a hidden gem in Chevron.. great office with top notch people in a safe community with challenging technical work. Wish I could go back and work there one day.

Many covington roles are gone. Pretty much all functions besides operations

@az, It's definitely the center of something. Not sure "excellence" would be the first thought that comes to mind, lol.

It should have been done years ago since the industry deepwater center of excellence is in Houston.
