The decision was made months ago, not just this week or last. All legal jargon right now, but it’s just an optical illusion.
Legally they can't just announce a closure, exploring give the impression that alternatives are better looked into, but guaranteed it's being shut down.
You can be sure that the alternatives have already been looked at and shutting the Irish operation has been decided as the best course of action to take.
Officially no one is let go now, it is all 'to be seen' in the coming months.
