Retirement

Why do they pretend senior managers are “retiring” when we all know they have been removed?

So much for transparency. Oh yeah, transparency is only for the low levels. And they wonder why employees don’t trust management

Good questions. My package was over 3X my annual salary. I took the package because I have enough points for full CVX retirement benefits. I will be moving to a smaller company at a slightly higher salary. I will be collecting both a salary and retirement benefits. Life is good at the top.

At the end of the day, what makes a separation/resignation a retirement anyway? Is there some qualifier like you start receiving your pension? Can a person with 10 years official “retire” from CVX?

It's a norm to use the word "retiring" for dignity and give the executive some reputation salvaging

Because retirement comes with payout and the veneer of choice/dignity
