Thread regarding Illumina Inc. layoffs

The bathroom mints were the canary in the coal mine

Around 2018, I distinctly remember the petty comments on Workplace about the removal of MINTS from the bathrooms on campus. Little did I know, this was the beginning of the end for Illumina. Those precious little red and white mints were our canary in the coal mine.

i miss the mints. They are the best. RELAX!!!...they weren't directly in the bathroom. Honestly I'm waiting for the coffee machines to go away. Could you imagine the money they would save with prob 100 to 200 machines gone. I'm ok if they brought the old coffee back (the pouches). Anyone notice how empty the supply areas are as well? Hmm

I worked at a previous company and not only was there pi-s on the seats, but the toilets looked at though they were coming detached from the walls (slightly wobbly). I asked the Facilities team about this and they apparently saw evidence that people (of a certain demographic that I will not name) were "squatting" on the toilet seats to ur----e and p-o. It got so bad that the company had to put out a do's and don'ts memo. So embarrassing.

Some of the smartest people on the planet and there is always pi-s on the seats. Proof that Intelligence is not a virtue.

The bathroom mints were a horrible idea. As noted already, food items should not be in a restroom. But that disgusting aspect aside, what adult is actually eating those sugary candies…?! I mean, seriously. That stuff is for 9-year-olds.

They were on the ledge by the full length mirror (room before you enter the bathroom)

Wait... are you saying there were mint candies in restrooms? Or just mint scented deodorizer stuff? I've never seen mint candies in restrooms at illumina

Omg I remember the mints! Loved them.

I remember the shuttle that would take us to UTC too.

What other things did they take away?

Candy in the bathroom?
Gross.

Wrapped or not, you don't put ANY type of food in a bathroom, unless it's your own private sanctuary at home.

Think of all of the coworkers who don't wash their hands after peeing and/or po----g. They then use those poopypeehands to paw around in the bowl of bathroom mints.
Then you use the bathroom afterward, and take one or two of those mints for yourself.
Popping it into your mouth, after their nasty nonwashing of their poopypeehands has spread e-coli and Lord only knows what other disgustingly dirty germs, viruses and other bacterial flotsam and jetsam all over the other mints.

Ew.
