Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I might be in trouble

I’ve been considering a change for a while, and last week, my boss caught me checking out job listings (I know, rookie mistake). He asked about it, and I quickly brushed it off (not sure I succeeded). Now, I’m wondering if this could jeopardize my current role, especially if he’s catching on to my intentions.

A smart Manager will think, do I want to keep this guy or not? If yes, you forced him to do something to keep you. If not, while it is time to move on anyways!

Don't sweat the small stuff!

I remember I looked at jobs while I was at Oracle...then I got into the real tech world....where you don't play nice and aren't protected for a decade.....just keep your head low, dont chat too much. believe me, by the time they realize they're paying you....you'll have a decade or two in.....

Never job hunt while in the office.
DUH!

Do it on your own time (or theirs, while WFH).

but make no mistake, you decreased your value in the eyes of the manager and next layoff round coming - you will be more likely on a chopping block, because manager needs to weigh risks and who needs current employment more.

depends on his/her personality, your relationships and how disposable are you in comparison to your team members in the eyes of the boss.
