Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Were you ever told to reapply after being laid off?

Is that even possible?

It's just so HR can say they offered that to you, to cover their a-s.
Don't even bother listening, because they've already told you that you're out the door.
If they valued you as an employee, they wouldn't put you through what they're pretending is an "opportunity," when in reality, it's a minfu*k at best, and inhumane cruelty at worst.

They stress you out by giving you the boot, then that's where you say, "Adieu!" and never look back.
Retain your dignity.
Find something new somewhere else.

An effective way to shed headcount and then hire back a lesser head count for a slightly different role at a reset and usually lower market value. Aka “do over”. The market is tight and companies will take advantage of the opportunity just like when talent was at premium because the industry was way behind the curve on the obscene amount of expertise it required to handle straightforward work and workflows. Building and buying the wrong things. Same work just easier and at a lower price point. Textbook.

Allstate and the industry are little “t”transformation - labor arbitrage and not big “T” Transformation - different work expertise. Someone will eventually figure it out.

It's common in the past that Allstate laid off and rehired people. Yes you can get rehired.

Often times in reduction in force, employees can be laid off and invited to reapply for their job, a lower paying job, or in very rare cases a better job within the company then they just got laid off from. The company can do just about anything in the employment all will environment. You are not represented by a union so you have no voice.

Is your location hiring? If not it's bullsh-t. They'll take your cv and tell you they'll call you when something comes up. But if the goal is to reduce headcount and overhead it seems unlikely.
