How have we already had three rounds of layoffs, and it’s only March? Is this the new normal? A layoff every month until there’s nobody left? This is beyond ridiculous - it’s outright cruel. This cr-ppy leadership doesn’t care about anything or anybody but their bottom line.

Or another way to weed out staff they are not satisfied with and then hire 3 to replace. Clever addition by substraction!
During AMA, KH made it clear that we will need to keep talking about it. I don't see leaders getting impacted. If there are issues in any specific application, why is not the leader of that space accountable and impacted? MM keeps blaming the minnows too.
Layoffs started before 2024….they will continue even though 2026. It’s all departmental and have to get timing approval to stagger to try and stay out of media as much as possible
I don't know an exact number but going back 18 months it's more than just a few hundred. Pushing 1,000? Slightly more? In any case, I would say not as bad as UPMC, which laid off many more than the 1,000 that made the news. These companies are sneaky about keeping the real numbers out of the press. I think there are probably political reasons for that, western PA economy is not doing well at all and it really is time to start getting worried about the dire state of the job market in this region.
I read that 207 IT people were laid off on 1/30. I know more were let go recently. Does anyone know the count? I have not seen additional info re the recent layoff in the news.
I'm not sure I would even take the excuse of hiring more than were laid off at face value. Generally you don't lay people off like this if you're growing. I think this is a time of contraction for Highmark, for UPMC, for the Healthcare industry in general and probably for the whole economy.
But in Karen Hanlon’s AMA, she says it’s okay bc they hired more than they laid off in 2024. How many of those hires were overseas? It’s disgusting.
I wonder how many people have really been let go, they've been doing layoffs at least since the beginning of 2024?
